A Short Introduction
Jeremy is an artist, educator, and advocate exploring the interplay between faith and art. The recipient of three degrees in theological studies (Lancaster Bible College – BS Bible; Virginia Beach Theological Seminary – Master of Biblical Studies; Dallas Theological Seminary – Master of Arts in Christian Education), the majority of Jeremy’s work translates the teachings of the Bible into visual imagery. His creations often incorporate the use of historic Christian symbolism as a didactic teaching aid. His work is included in the permanent collections of Dallas Theological Seminary (Dallas, TX) and Lancaster Bible College (Lancaster, PA).
Among his many passions, Jeremy loves opening the eyes of young artists to new wonders. As an interdisciplinary teaching artist, “Mr. Jeremy” (as his students refer to him) has nurtured the creative gifts of K-12 students abroad and within Central PA. He is currently the resident teaching artist at the Strasburg-Heisler Public Library (Strasburg, PA).
A native of Halifax, Jeremy is the Founder and CEO of Poiema Visual Arts, a ministry which seeks to provide opportunities for discipleship, education, and community to Pennsylvania-based Christian visual artists. He is also a member of the Millersburg Art Association, Lititz Art Association and CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts). Jeremy accepts a limited number of yearly commissions and is available to serve churches as a guest speaker, through exhibit agreements, and as a consultant on issues pertaining to art ministry. In the company of his family, he currently lives and creates in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
